Current Information:Born-Shoreditch 1st Cornwall Light Infantry, 14 Brigade, 5th Division had been in action both at Mons on 23rd August 1914 and at Le Cateau three days later. On 27th August they were up at 1am after 3 hours sleep and, soaked to the skin, on the march via St. Quentin to Ollezy, a distance of 23 miles. The Regimental History makes no mention of any fighting on this day. |
